Over 3.5 million International visitors came in 2014

Over 3.5 million foreign tourists had visited Myanmar in 2014; and the majority of them were from Thailand, Japan and China (some came from France, UK and Germany) according to the statistic stated by Ministry of Hotels and Tourism of Myanmar. This number is exceeding the initial estimation of just 3 million.

According to the statistic, the estimated revenue from the Hotels and Tourism industry was 1 billion USD; however the actual figure was 1.14 billion USD.

As the number of foreign visitor arriving to Myanmar has risen steadily year by year since the referendum in 2010, Hotels and Tourisms of Myanmar has been undertaking in promoting the country of Myanmar to the world by building many tourist attractions. The goal is to increase the number to 5 million visitors in 2015 and 7.5 million in 2020.
The 34th ASEAN Tourism Forum is scheduled to be held in Nay Pyi Daw at the end of this month, 2015. The delegations, officials, media groups and guests from 40 countries, approximately total of 1500 persons, are expected to attend. Hotels and Tourism of Myanmar is anticipating taking this opportunity to its advantage planning to make every effort for PR of the county.
