Mohinger is one of the traditional food enjoyed by local people in Myanmar.
It is a rice noodle soup separately cooked with fish, particularly catfish as a base broth.
The whole fish is cooked for a while and bones are taken out before poured into the rice noodle with onions, garlic, ginger, paprika, young banana root, fish sauce and etc. This noodle dish is garnished with sliced of boiled egg, deep fried minced fish ball, slice of lime, chili pepper, chili oil and coriander (Chinese parsley) as an individual preference.
Just as a reminder, there is an extra cost for boiled egg, fish balls or other toppings at the food stand.
Mohinger is often cooked at home; however it is also popular at the food stand near pagodas and market.
