On the way to downtown Yangon from Yangon International airport, there is a huge, beautiful and golden Buddhist stupa called ‘Shwedagon Pagoda’. This spiritual building is decorated in golden color and built on the hill. This amazing and divine site can be easily spotted from anywhere in Yangon city.

Shwedagon Pagoda is originally built about 2600 years ago with holy golden stupa in the center surrounded by about 60 paya. The stupas are brightly and beautifully lit up in the evening time.
It is also beautiful to visit at dusk as the stupas are naturally lit up by the sunset.

Many domestic and foreign tourists visit here as this is one of the popular spot in Yangon.
There are many entrances from north, south, east and west; however the south entrance is more convenient from downtown Yangon.
