The traditional food that is most enjoyed by the local people in Myanmar is rice served with meat, poultry, seafood or vegetable cooked in variety of ways, and some home- made relishes to complement the dish. Although each house hold has its own taste and tradition the flavors are typically referred as spicy, sour, bitter and salty.
Seafood spiced with onion, ginger, garlic and hot chilies is commonly used as a main dish by the coastal cities where as meat and poultry are more commonly used in landlocked cities.

Because of its diverse geographical features contributing in abundant supply of natural resources, there are variety of food to appreciate in Myanmar all year around.
Also its unique geographical location between China and India has impacted the country of Myanmar in many ways including its culture, arts and traditional food. As a result, there are many dishes collaborated with Indian cuisines or Chinese cuisines to become a new Myanmar food to be enjoyed. However, needless to say, the most of local people in Myanmar still prefer and cherish their own traditional food.
As the globalization of the country and economic development have been more and more established over the years now there are variety of restaurants and specialty food store from the world are attracting visitors and foreign tourists to Myanmar.
