Nay Pyi Taw, means Royal Capital in English, has been the administrative capital of Myanmar since 2005.

The history of Myanmar indicated that the movement of Dynasty had a tendency to move to the center of Myanmar at each time such as Mandalay, Taungoo and Bagan.

At the same time, Nay Pyi Taw was also conveniently located proximate to Yangon, Pyinmana and Taungoo.

Nay Pyi Taw is consisted of 8 townships and it has shown the significant rapid growth over the years.

Also there are many farmland with relatively available hydro and electricity in Nay Pyi Taw. There are 2 main dams called Paunglaung dam and Zawgyi dam.
Paunglaung dam is mainly facilitated for hydro and electricity and Zawgyi dam is for irrigation.

The land area of Nay Pyi Taw is large as 7,054 square kilometer with government district, residential district, shopping district including recreation district and many other facilities such as museums, religious buildings and etc.

How to get around

  • Parks & Gardens

    There are many parks and gardens throughout the city. National Herbal Garden with full of Myanmar’s medicinal plants, Jade Garden with abundant raw Jade, Naypyitaw Floral Garden with varieties of Myanmar’s trees are some of parks and garden to mention.

  • Eating

    There are two main eating hubs on hillocks near the main markets of the city. Myoma Hill Top has a number of beer stations where you can get beer, BBQ and Chinese food. Thabyaygone Hill Top has a varieties of restaurants.
    Other local restaurants are in Pyinmana, along the Yangon & Mandalay Road (between Hnin Si Pan (Rose) Roundabout and the Pyinmana-Taungnyo Road), in the hotel area, and in the residential area.

  • Shopping

    Junction Square and Capital Hyper Market are located near the major hotels. Myoma Market and Thabyaygone Market have wet markets as well as parades of shops which sell almost everything such as mobile phones, medicine and many more.

  • Entertainment

    Water Fountain Garden - At night, this water park turns into an impromptu nightclub when the fountain is lit up and disco music is played.
