This most famous and large market in Yangon is located in the center of downtown Yangon.
This place was built during colonial era in 1926 and has become one of the popular and busy spot in Yangon.
There are variety of goods sold here such as daily necessities, groceries, clothes, jewelries, crafts and etc. Especially the Bangan lacquer craft, Shan bag ( the traditional bag for Shan) and longyi (the traditional cloth wear around body) are the most popular souvenir for the tourists.
It is known than the goods and items sold in this market are higher quality and well-designed than the items sold in other places.
The cafes and food stalls right outside the market are another attraction to this popular spot.
